ABOUT US
Welcome to Adams County Fire Protection District 5
Adams County Fire District No. 5 is located in the eastern part of Washington State and is located in the heart of the Columbia Basin between Grand Coulee Dam and the Hanford Nuclear Reservation; we are an agriculture based community. Our protection District is 215 miles of some of the most rugged and dry wild land of the Columbia Basin our District has a population of 7,500 and the City of Othello population is 7,000. The District also consists of rural farming both irrigated and dry land that produces a wide range of goods, we also provide protection for several areas of industrial use. Our agency is a combination department with five (5) career staff, twenty (20) volunteer firefighters and six (6) support staff members. Adams 5 currently has a cooperative fire protection agreement with US Fish and Wildlife. In 2001 Adams County Fire District No. 5 and the City of Othello signed an interlocal agreement for our District to provide fire protection services, fire and life safety inspections, fire prevention and education for the City of Othello and its 7,000+ citizens. The District responds to motor vehicle accidents on three (3) major eastern Washington highways, SR17 SR24 SR26, that all come together within 2.5 miles of our main station. Within the City of Othello and our District we have several fertilizer, chemical plants, storages, and two large potato processing plants as well as a cold storage warehouse, juice plant, two bulk fuel stations, an ammonia distributor and many other industrial and commercial operations. I am extremely proud of the women and men of this Fire District. They carry out their responsibilities flawlessly on a daily basis. They are your neighbors, friends, employees and family members. They are committed to protecting lives and property, and being good stewards of the districts assets. These people work extremely hard to make our community a better place to live everyday. On behalf of the Adams County Fire District #5 Fire Commissioners and all our dedicated members, I would like to thank you for your continued support. We have only been able to reach our goals by that support of you, the community we serve.
If you ever have any questions, I can assist you with, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Respectfully,
Gary Lebacken Fire Chief
